The Skiing
FAMILIES *****
Belle Plagne has everything skiing families could ask for – a purpose-designed Chalet Hotel, a convenient childrens ski area with enthusiastic and sympathetic English-speaking ski instructors, a pedestrianised village centre, and for skiing "en famille", a plentiful range of wide gentle blue runs surrounding the resort.
BEGINNERS *****
The predominance of blue runs around Belle Plagne makes this an ideal place to learn the basics of either skiing or boarding. And once the basics have been mastered, the whole area opens up for exploration. It is possible to ski from the Roche de Mio at 2,700m all the way to Montalbert at 1,350m, all on blue runs!
INTERMEDIATES *****
Intermediates will find themselves spoilt for choice in this vast ski area. The wide blue runs are ideal for perfecting your carving technique or for practising tight, fast slalom turns. The reds and blacks range from fairly mild tree-lined runs to challenging glacier blacks that will certainly add a challenging dimension to your ski day. 420 kms of piste in all make this an area which thoroughly deserves its glowing - and growing - reputation.
ADVANCED ****
Good skiers will revel in the long, black, testing runs this area offers. Those from the Bellecôte glacier and off-piste to the Bauches chairlift are some of the trickiest skiing to be had anywhere, whilst the moguls on the Biolley black runs have a wicked reputation!
POWDER POTENTIAL ****
This whole area is a paradise for powderhounds, with our Chalet Hotel itself at 2,050m, and skiing right up to 3,250m giving that all-important guarantee of regular new powder to enjoy. The big open bowls offer new converts to powder skiing a safe introduction by skiing across from piste to piste, whilst others will enjoy the steep couloirs that fill with every fresh snowfall.
SNOWBOARDING *****
There are several snowboard and free-ride parks across the area, with the closest being just below the Col de Forcle lift in the bowl between Belle Plagne and Bellecôte. The mountains own terrain also adds to the fun, with a wonderful natural half-pipe under the Arpette chairlift, and a range of other humps, bumps and tables.
Our Esprit Ski Escort will be available for 3 days of the week to ski with you and introduce you to the area.
