Description
Ski Range 1,300m - 2,650m
Fully deserving its position in the top ten of world ski areas, St Anton has also made successful efforts in recent years to make the resort child-friendly too.
Dedicated childrens areas in Nasserein (where our chalets are located) and up at Gampen, combined with excellent instructors, make St Anton an excellent choice for families.
It is the appeal of the biggest ski area in Austria which will make keen skiing parents eyes light up, with 260 kms of pistes and 180kms of unpisted deep snow runs to choose from and a snow record to be proud of.
Child Care
NURSERY - Our Nursery, Snow Club and Cocoa Club are all based in Chalet Alber, with outings for their snow fun activities.
Five mornings a week, children in Beginner, Improver Xtra and Intermediate Xtra Sprite classes are collected by our staff and taken by Esprit’s minibus to the meeting point for their lessons. Beginner children joining Snow Club will be collected at the end of their lesson and returned to the Chalet Alber for lunch.
Xtra Sprites classes include lunch with the ski school, and these children will be collected at the end of their lessons in the afternoon and taken back to the Chalet Alber, where they will re-join the other children for fun and games. Alternatively, parents may collect them at the designated time and location.
Spritelet Snow Clubbers will be collected by our staff for their morning’s fun and will be taken to their lessons in the Nasserein Nursery Garden after lunch and returned to the Chalet Alber to join the other children in Snow Club when their lesson ends.
In the mornings we ask that Nursery children are delivered to the Nursery in the Chalet Alber by their parents and are collected by their parents at 5pm, whilst all other children will be returned to their "home" chalet by our staff and supervised through high tea until 6pm.
Cocoa Club runs in the Snow Club room in Chalet Alber until 10pm, and children from other chalets will be collected and returned by our staff. Parents in the Alber apartments can then put their children to bed and enjoy a further hour of relaxation, making the most of our baby listening patrol, which runs till 10.30pm.
The Skiing
FAMILIES ****
The Nasserein area of St Anton is the perfect location for families. Two of the main childrens ski areas are convenient to our chalet - one at the foot of the gondola and one at the top. We even provide our own free minibus transfers to and from the gondola for all children in our ski classes, to make life even easier.
BEGINNERS ***
There is a beginners area for adults too in Nasserein, and some lovely blue runs down from Gampen at the top of the gondola to progress to as you improve. The ski-school has an excellent reputation for helping first-time skiers through those early days, to reach a level you can be proud of at the end of the week.
INTERMEDIATES *****
St Anton has incredible skiing for intermediates, with the "Happy Valley" for those who are looking for lovely cruising runs, and the wide open slopes of Lech and Zürs offering sensational scenery and great snow. There are plentifiul challenges too at all levels, including bumps and unpisted "deep snow trails" to explore, and the mens World Cup downhill run is not to be missed!
ADVANCED *****
Quite simply, this is one of the worlds absolute best resorts for expert skiers, with a magical variety of consistently challenging skiing, including fiendish blacks, exhilarating off-piste and bumps galore. In short, this is definitely one of those resorts every keen skier wants to notch up on their ski-pole.
POWDER POTENTIAL *****
The off-piste here is unequalled, and the snow record outstanding, with St Anton regularly getting a lot more snow than French resorts of the same height. Powder is left unpisted on 180kms of marked "trails", and there are endless acres of off-piste to explore as well, for some of which a guide is recommended.
SNOWBOARDING ****
The steady upgrade of the lift system, with more and more chairlifts replacing T-bars, clearly benefits boarders too, and the steep terrain and plentiful powder add to the appeal, particularly for more experienced boarders
