Meribel Snow Report, 21-Feb 2012

Meribel, FranceA dusting of fresh snow at the weekend has brought the snow depth at the top of the ski area to 238cm and in resort the depth is now 155cm.

Parisian half term week means there are quiet a few ski school groups on the pistes however there is a lovely lull from 11 to 3pm where you can venture quite peacefully on the higher runs. The visibility is fantastic and the snow is well groomed and plenty of it!!

Today it’s a bright sunny day with fantastic visibility and this will continue for most of the week. There may be a few clouds in the sky on Thursday but they will be minimal and by Friday the sun will be on full show. Wednesday night will be a little colder in resort, down to -12. In general Méribel is getting slightly warmer and in will be around 2 degrees in the daytime at 2200 metres.

Tomorrow night The Pogues are playing in the main square in Méribel from 18:30 to 21.00. We will be bringing 80s rock/folk/punk back!

Also on Wednesday there is a torch lit descent put on by ESF with hot drinks and local cheeses on offer.

ESF is also organising cross country skiing excursions from the Blanchot and the Altiport for those of you who fancy a slightly different ski experience.
