Obergurgl Snow Report, 7-Feb 2012

Obergurgl, AustriaOn piste conditions have never been better with the snow at the top of the ski area having a base of 120cm and runs to resort have 80cm.

On piste conditions have never been better with cold conditions preserving the excellent layer of snow which fell last week. Red 25, the lower tree run on the Hochgurgl side of resort, has some particularly well groomed sections for carving and blue 6’s wide meandering turns in these conditions make for some extremely relaxing skiing for beginners and intermediates. Hochgurgl’s black 27 run is also particularly enjoyable at the moment with grippy snow making for a steep, stress free run. Off piste on the Obergurgl side of resort is now largely tracked out since the heavy snow fall last week, but some of the higher, less accessible bowls in Hochgurgl still have plenty of powder potential.

Low temperatures set to continue over the next few days, with daytime temperatures remaining around -10 and dropping as far as -20 during the night. Showers of light snow expected on Thursday and Friday, interspersed with sunnier spells.

Today is the night of the Ski School show at the top of the Festkoglbahn in Obergurgl. Expect fireworks, stunning formation skiing and breathtaking stunts from Obergurgl’s top ski instructors.
