St Anton Snow Report, 13-Mar 2012
Snow depth at the top of the ski area is still an amazing 385cm whilst lower runs to resort have 145cm.
A brief dusting fell on Sunday as we all prepared for our new guests was good, it added just a touch of freshness to the snow.
The snow that fell heavily last week has kept well on the piste, despite the warm weather. The lower slopes are getting a little slushy in the afternoons, and therefore also bumpy, but this newfound snowboarder loves it. What I never realised as a skier was how much fun real spring skiing can be as a snowboarder. Banking up against one mogul after the other can be almost like a mini boarder-cross. The higher up and quieter runs are still lovely, so if you are heading out here soon, I would suggest a trip right up Valluga, and definitely at least half a day on the West side of Zurs.
This week it looks like we are going to have amazing weather, especially for fair weather skiers and those wanting to improve on their goggle marks. Sun, sun and more sun with temperatures forecast to not be too high, so the snow will stay, and the sun will shine, I cannot wait!
