Tignes Snow Report, 31 Jan 2012

Tignes, FranceThe Espace Killy ski area is experiencing the best snow conditions for 10 years and as a result the resort is skiing fantastically well. Snow on the upper slopes has a depth of 205cm.

The hard pack in resort is holding up very well as slopes have been extremely quiet over the previous week. Very little ice has been allowed to form in resort due to the sustained cold temperatures meaning all levels of skier can easily rely on edges catching on piste.

The snow is falling in resort which will allow all areas to experience the world famous Tignes off piste feel. The unpisted slopes should flatten down allowing the less the less confident to take on the challenge.

Sunshine is forecast tomorrow with temperatures plummeting below -10 Celsius. The snow is forecast to return later in the week with very low temperatures.

An introductory ARVA (avalanche transceiver training session) is being conducted by ESF in the center of Le Lac. This is a great opportunity to become a little more knowledgeable about the dangers of the mountains and how to avoid them.
