Val d’Isere Snow Report, 7-Feb 2012

Val d'Isere, FranceCurrent low temperatures are keeping the snow in unbelievably good conditions with an upper base of 210cm and almost the same on the home runs, at 150cm.

The top up of snow over the weekend, plus the current low temperatures are resulting in unbelievable snow conditions. In addition to that, the forecast is sunny, clear skies for the majority of this week, so we are set for some textbook skiing this week in Val d’Isère! Anyone visiting resort in the near future should take advantage of these conditions and take a trip up to the “Eye of the Needle” in the Tignes ski area, a magnificent geographical feature with some breathtaking views and incredible photo opportunities. Guests will then be able to ski all the way down to Tignes Le Breviere along the famous “Sache” black run. The more adventurous may like to try the off piste route the runs along the back of the mountain instead. This challenging descent takes you through all kinds of back country terrain, from powder gulleys to picturesque tree runs, it’s a route that is guaranteed to give you an adrenaline rush!

There will be a small dusting of snow Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, then more clear skies for the rest of the week!

This week in Val d’Isère is a dream come true for any petrol heads out there… Top Gear are in resort, and they are up to their usual antics! From cooking fondue on a car engine, to racing rally cars up “Face” the Olympic black run, who knows what they will do next?! Some of our staff have been lucky enough to bump into James May and get a photo with him, whilst others have spotted him out enjoying the 300km of piste the Espace Killy has to offer!
