Easter Skiing Conditions

Spring has most definitely sprung in Obergurgl, the sun has got his hat on, and we’re all out to play. With nearly 4 feet of snowfall on the first week of march the pistes are as good as ever, and with blue skies forecast you don’t have a reason to not come and visit us.

Check out our most recent Obergurgl snow report from the sky!

There’s so much goes on in Obergurgl in spring, and having Solden just 20 minutes down the valley means there’s even more explore. Solden of course is famous for its party atmosphere, and that’s exactly what’s going on this month! With parties on the piste every Friday afternoon, it’s all getting very lively. Solden’s piste parties are incredible, pulling in acts from all over the world to feature on the Giggijoch stage and with them attracting nearly 1000 people a week. It’s like a mini Glastonbury with Skiing!!

The Sound of Music

We also of course have the world famous Nederhutte in Obergurgl, if you haven’t heard of it before, you definitely will have by the end of your stay, frequently voted the best après bar in the alps its definitely a sight to behold.

If you’ve never been before, please go, and if you have, please go again! Live music there 4 days a week, a mix of traditional Austrian music, some absolute classics and a few modern songs is the perfect mix to have a fantastic afternoon/evening.

What's on besides the apres?

Away from aprés ski we have some amazing events to behold. Obergurgl just hosted the open faces free ride world tour stage, where some of the best skiers and snowboarders from around the world competed for the world title. The competition was judged by a panel of 7 ex-professionals, 3 skiers, 3 boarders and one head judge (the Len Goodman of the competition in case of a tie break).

What makes it so tough? There’s no points for trying- if a contestant falls, they won’t receive any points for that run! The event took place near the Hohe Mut on the ridge facing it so there was a perfect vantage point to take in all the action. Although the Obergurgl competition is over, the competition is moving on to Gastein, where the final will take place from the 7th to the 9th of April!
