One of the joys of choosing a catered chalet or chalet hotel ski holiday is that you won't have to lift a finger in the kitchen, we take care of everything. Our staff prepare and serve breakfast, afternoon tea and a 3-course evening meal including wine and coffee six days a week.
On a staff day off, a continental breakfast is provided for you and in the evening it's a chance to enjoy some delicious local food in one of the resorts restaurants, ensuring you don't leave the Alps without your fill of Tarteflette, Local pasta or Fondue! Our Baby Listening / Child Patrol service allows you to enjoy your evening meal out, without the worry of looking after your kids.
We set high standards for our cuisine, by training our staff extensively before the season starts to ensure you'll enjoy every meal.
In all our properties breakfast is served buffet-style including a choice of cereals or porridge, cold meats, cheese and preserves, bread and croissants, fruit juices, tea and coffee and cooked options such as bacon, sausage, eggs and beans. On the staff day off, a continental style breakfast is laid out for you to help yourselves in all chalets whilst it is served as a buffet in our chalet hotels.
Every day, apart from our staff day off, a home-baked cake and tea and coffee making facilities are laid out for you to help yourself when you return from the slopes. In all our chalet hotels, we also prepare a savoury treat to accompany the sweet ones.
We always prepare a vegetarian main course in our chalet hotels and can cater for vegetarians staying in our chalets but please tell us when booking so the chalet hosts can be prepared. Vegan meals can also be requested but again please let us know when you book your holiday.
Other special diets can generally be accommodated at a cost of £35 per person per week. Any dietary requirements must be advised to us at the time of booking in order for us to be fully prepared.
Chalet evening meals
High Tea for all children under 11 is served between 5pm and 6pm. It is served as a 2 course healthy menu, tailored more towards children's tastes and puréed food is available for infants. Parents are asked to accompany their children under 3, whilst 3-10 years old are supervised by our childcare team.
Adult dinner is at 7.30pm and comprises of 3 courses including an appetiser, main dish and dessert. The meal is accompanied by a prosecco apéritif and a choice of red, rose and white wines, culminating with tea or coffee.
A 3 course regional speciality menu is served as one of the 6 evening meals in chalets and the French menu includes charcuterie, goat's cheese salad, tartiflette and tarte tatin, accompanied by the prosecco apéritif and choice of wines.
Staff night off
On the staff night off, you and your family have the opportunity to eat out in one of the local restaurants. Ask our staff for any recommendations. We also offer our Baby Listening/Child Patrol Service in all our chalets on staff night off and every evening in Chalets Corniche in Tignes and Romeo in La Rosière.
Many parents prefer to enjoy adult-only company over dinner but if it's important to you to eat dinner altogether as a family, we offer Family Dining in any chalet when you book the entire chalet for exclusive use. Dinner is then served from 6.30pm with the menu based on our adult dishes with some flexibility for the children's preferences. There is a supplement of £39 per child for Family Dining. Our Chalet Valentine in La Rosière offers family dining throughout the season, with no additional charge.
Alternatively, you may wish to consider staying with us in a chalet hotel where children aged 8 and above have the option of joining their parents at the adult dinner.
Chalet hotel evening meals
High Tea served between 5pm and 6pm for all children up to 7 years old. This is served as a 2 course evening meal with healthy options that children will enjoy. Puréed food is also available for infants on request. Children aged 8-10 years can also take High Tea if preferred. Parents are asked to accompany their children under 3, whilst 3-10 year olds are supervised by our childcare team.
Adult dinner at 7.30pm begins with a prosecco apéritif with canapés and comprises of 3 courses with a choice of appetiser, main course and either dessert or local cheese, all accompanied by a selection of red, white and rose wine, culminating with tea or coffee.
Evening meals are served to the table with a choice of dishes and there's always a vegetarian daily option too.
Please note that children will be eating the adult menu choices if they choose to eat at 7.30pm.
Dinner on staff day off
On the staff night off you and your family have the opportunity to eat out in one of the local restaurants. Our staff will be happy to help with recommendations and bookings if you wish. If you would prefer, you can always order in a takeaway pizza, and have a relaxing evening in.
Baby Listening/Child Patrol Service
Our staff patrol the corridors, monitor entrances and exits to the buildings and contact parents if a child is restless. This service is offered in Chalet Hotel Ducs de Savoie and Chalet Hotel De Champoluc (on selected floors only) every evening, including staff night off.
Christmas & New Year's celebrations
All our chalets and chalet hotels offer traditional fare for Christmas dinner, with roast turkey and all the trimmings, Christmas pudding, mince pies, crackers, party hats and of course a pre-dinner glass of Champagne plus a lively, fun atmosphere for all the family.
This is the one meal that all families share together regardless of children’s ages, so in some properties the dining tables can be quite crowded, but this adds to the festive ambience of all celebrating together!
A special festive menu followed by Champagne is also served on New Year’s Eve. Children have High Tea as usual so the evening meal is for adults only (and those aged 11 and over of course), unless you are staying in a family dining chalet or your children are taking adult dining in one of our chalet hotels.
Esprit wine selection
We appreciate all your feedback over recent seasons on the wines selected for all our chalets and Chalet Hotels. It’s good to hear that you feel we are very much on the right track here, with our five varied choices in chalets and Chalet Hotels going a long way to ensure there is something to enjoy for every taste and palate.
Certainly your letters and questionnaires totally endorse our decision many years ago to move Esprit well away from the boxed wine or ‘plonk in a carafe’ still served by some other chalet companies, to good quality, bottled wines which genuinely enhance our menus. So the wine lovers here in our UK team look forward to the wine-tasting event we hold every autumn in conjunction with our French wine partners, Nicolas and Véronique Perret. They are based in the distinctive Savoie wine region, producing their own wines as well as blending and bottling other varieties from all around France, and as a Burgundy-trained wine expert, Nicolas is well qualified to help us choose a tempting selection of wines for the coming winter.
Taking on board your wine notes, ideas and suggestions from last season, the range will once again aim for variety within our two selected reds and two contrasting whites, plus a light, refreshing rosé in all our properties. Our Chalet Hotel in Italy has a few wines that are different from what we offer in our French properties.
