Spring Skiing In St Anton!
After a few weeks of snow and clouds, we have recently been blessed with the most amazing blue skies and sunshine. The temperatures have risen slightly and it has made for extremely enjoyable conditions for skiing and snowboarding. However, it’s not always ALL about the skiing (just mostly!). Every now and then it’s nice to make the most of this weather by soaking up the sunshine on a lovely mountain terrace, or eating a delicious lunch outdoors at one of St. Anton’s many mountain restaurants. Therefore, we’ve put together a guide to the best places to give those ski legs a rest and enjoy this beautiful sunshine!

Rendl Beach Restaurant
One of the most popular spots in St. Anton, Rendl Beach offers a huge terrace area overlooking the mountains, and the exhilarating St Anton snow park. Rest your legs after a session trying the jumps in the park, or a morning skiing the lovely Rendl ski area, which boasts beautifully quiet and wide blues and reds to start your day off. In true beach spirit you can relax in a deckchair, or simply grab one of the large tables to enjoy some food from the Rendl Restaurant just next door. Definitely be sure to try their wide variety of freshly made wok dishes, a tried and tested crowd favourite. When the sun is shining, the Rendl Beach terrace is basked in sunlight for the entire day, so you can stay and enjoy the conditions for as long as you like!
Hospiz Alm
Take the highly enjoyable Blue run 64 from the top of the Galzig gondola and you will reach this lovely restaurant over in St. Christoph. A favourite of many holidaymakers, the Hospiz Alm is almost as famous for its food as it is for the slide it has to get you to the toilets more enjoy in those ski boots. While the interior is beautiful and cosy, with open fires and wooden decorations, the Hospiz Alm also boasts a wonderful sun terrace. Staff are decked out in traditional leiderhosen, and food includes Austrian specialties such as Goulash soup and Tyrolean platters. If you’re a fan of wine, ask for a tour of their famous wine cellar, which is truly an experience in itself.
Sonnegg
Located right next to the Nasserein gondola, so in a prime location for those guests staying at the Chalet Hotel Pepi Gabl, the Sonnegg restaurant offers a great variety of food and drinks throughout the day. Their outdoor terrace catches the best of the sun during the day, and is a particularly nice lunchtime spot, with brilliant views of the slopes, so you can watch your friends and family as they take to the pistes. The famous hot chocolate and HUGE apple strudel are divine, and definitely well deserved after a day on the slopes yourself!
Sennhutte
A more traditional Austrian experience, the Sennhutte is one of St. Anton’s famous apres bars, but also offers brilliant food and drinks in a beautiful setting. Based on Blue run 50, the main run back to the bottom of the Galzig gondola, the Sennhutte is in an ideal location for skiers and snowboarders. With a combination of traditional Austrian and more international dishes, this is a good spot for the whole family. Or, if you fancy a drink after a long day skiing, the gluwhein here is one of the best on the mountain, and they offer a large variety of local beers. The Sennhutte is also one of the few bars on the mountain that offers live music, and the atmosphere is always of the top quality. Their outdoor seating offers beautiful views of the St. Anton area, and they also have an outdoor garden with traditional herbs, plants and animals, something which is really fun for children, especially in this amazing weather.
