Family Ski Belle Plagne
Our flagship Chalet Hotel Des Deux Domains is firmly established as an Esprit family favourite
Belle Plagne has everything skiing families could ask for – a purpose-designed Chalet Hotel on the slopes, a convenient children’s ski area with enthusiastic and sympathetic English-speaking ski instructors, a pedestrianised village centre, and for skiing ‘en famille’, a plentiful range of wide gentle blue runs surrounding the resort.
Of the ten ‘villages’ which combine to make up La Plagne resort, Belle Plagne is not only one of the two highest, but also by far the most attractive, with its characterful buildings of local wood and stone, pedestrianised village centre and friendly atmosphere.
At 2,050m, it also boasts an enviable snow record, with the added bonus of 100% guaranteed snow on the Bellecôte glacier. Belle Plagne has also received French Tourism’s coveted ‘Family Plus’ accreditation, endorsing its family-friendly credentials.
From the piste which runs past the hotel, you can ski down on easy runs to Plagne Bellecôte for a choice of five lifts heading up the Roche de Mio side to the Bellecôte glacier, across to the Plagne Centre bowl, or over towards Les Coches and the Vanoise Express cable-car link to Peisey and Les Arcs.
“Excellent staff, very friendly, warm and welcoming. The whole holiday was a brilliant introduction to skiing for our family.”
Belle Plagne January 2010
“The way this episode (the volcanic ash crisis) was handled was simply excellent. We were incredibly well looked after and Esprit excelled. It is in a crisis that reputations are either enhanced or ruined – in Esprit’s case it is most definitely the former.”
Belle Plagne, April 2010
Five mornings a week, children in Esprit Sprite classes and Spritelet Snow Clubbers are collected from the hotels’ meeting point by our staff (and/or the ski school instructors) and taken to the appropriate slopes for their lessons or to the Snow Club for morning fun.
At the end of the morning lesson or Snow Club, children joining Supervised Lunch, afternoon Snow Club or with afternoon Sprite or Spritelet sessions will be collected and returned to the Deux Domaines for lunch.
The Snow Club is based in the Deux Domaines with outings for their specific snow fun activities. All children in afternoon Sprites or Spritelets will be taken to and collected from their session by our staff and will join the Snow Club children for the remainder of the afternoon, before high tea.
We ask that Nursery children are delivered to the Nursery by their parents. Nursery lunches are held in the Deux Domaines. Nursery children must be collected by their parents at 5pm and accompanied at high tea, whilst all other children will be supervised by our staff through high tea until 6pm.
Mini Cocoa Club will run in the Nursery 6 nights a week from 7.30-9.30pm for children aged 3-5 years. Parents are asked to deliver and collect their children.
Cocoa Club runs in the Snow Club room from 7.30pm until 10pm on six nights a week and is available to all children aged 6-12 years. Cocoa Club Plus is also based here when not on their evenings out. Parents are asked to deliver and collect their children. Parents can put their children to bed and enjoy a further hour of relaxation, making the most of our Baby-Listening/ Child-Patrol Service, which runs till 11pm.

Ski range from 1,250m – 3,250m
The predominance of blue runs around Belle Plagne makes this an ideal place to learn the basics of either skiing or boarding. And once the basics have been mastered, the whole area opens up for exploration. It is possible to ski from the Roche de Mio at 2,700m all the way to Montalbert at 1,350m, all on blue runs!
Intermediates will find themselves spoilt for choice in this vast ski area. The wide blue runs are ideal for perfecting your carving technique or for practising tight, fast slalom turns. The reds and blacks range from fairly mild tree-lined runs to challenging glacier blacks. 425 kms of piste in all make this an area which thoroughly deserves its glowing reputation.
Good skiers will revel in the long, black, testing runs this area offers. Those from the Bellecôte glacier and off-piste to the Bauches chairlift are some of the trickiest skiing to be had anywhere, whilst the moguls on the Biolley black runs have a wicked reputation!
This whole area is a paradise for powderhounds, with our Chalet Hotel itself at 2,050m, and skiing right up to 3,250m giving that all-important guarantee of regular new powder to enjoy. The big open bowls offer new converts to powder skiing a safe introduction by skiing across from piste to piste, whilst others will enjoy the steep couloirs that fill with every fresh snowfall.
There are several snowboard and free-ride parks across the area, with the closest being just below the Col de Forcle lift in the bowl between Belle Plagne and Bellecôte. The mountain’s own terrain also adds to the fun, with a wonderful natural half-pipe under the Arpette chairlift, and a range of other humps, bumps and tables.
Après ski entertainment is centred on Belle Plagne’s delightful pedestrianised centre, where there are several bars, restaurants and crêperies. For active après ski, as well as the Chalet Hotel’s own impressive leisure facilities, there is La Plagne’s famous bobsleigh run, with family bobs, mono-bobs, and piloted bobs that will reach speeds of more than 100kms per hour!
