Courchevel 1850 - the ultimate ski resort
Courchevel 1850 offers real French charm in the wide variety of chic shops and fine restaurants and thoroughly deserves its top-flight reputation. It is renowned for having one of the longest ski seasons and the best snow cover in the whole of the Alps, and has headed skiers’ list of prestige resorts for many a year now.
1850 is located in a wide bowl, where the skiing encircles the resort, with runs leading to virtually every corner of town. The blue slopes of the Pralong area are alongside our Chalet Hotel Crystal 2000 and therefore provide an ideal location for the whole family to ski together and children can take the opportunity to show their parents their newly honed ski skills without having to travel far to find appropriate gentle slopes.

Esprit Classic Childcare
For parents our Esprit Classic Childcare offers a completely seamless service and means being able to leave your accommodation after breakfast to head for the first lift, only needing to return after the last one shuts. We look after you children completely throughout the ski day if you wish. For the kids it means non-stop fun with english speaking staff and children!
Five mornings a week, children in all Sprite ski classes are collected by our staff (and/or the ski school instructors) from a central meeting point in the Chalet Hotel and taken to the nearby slopes for their lessons or to the Snow Club for their morning fun.
At the end of the morning lesson or Snow Club, children joining Supervised Lunch, afternoon Snow Club or with afternoon Sprite or Spritelet sessions will be collected and returned to the Crystal 2000 for lunch.
The Snow Club is based in the Crystal 2000 with outings for their specific snow fun activities. All children in afternoon Sprites or Spritelets will be taken to and collected from their session by our staff and will join the Snow Club children for the remainder of the afternoon, before high tea.
We ask that Nursery children and Spritelet Snow Clubbers are delivered to the Nursery or Snow Club by their parents. Nursery lunches are held in the Crystal. Nursery children must be collected by their parents at 5pm and accompanied at high tea, whilst all other children will be supervised by our staff through high tea until 6pm.
Mini Cocoa Club will run in the Nursery 6 nights a week from 7.30-9.30pm for children aged 3-5 years. Parents are asked to deliver and collect their children.
Cocoa Club runs in the Snow Club room in the Crystal 2000 from 7.30-10pm on six nights a week and is available to all children 6-12 years. Parents are asked to deliver and collect their children. Parents can put their children to bed and enjoy a further hour of relaxation, making the most of our Baby-Listening/Child-Patrol Service, which runs until 11pm.
Ski range from 1,300 - 3,230m
Courchevel 1850 is superb for beginners and our Chalet Hotel couldn’t be better located with a novice area right outside the Crystal. There are extensive slopes green and blue slopes all across the bowl local to 1850 and skiers in their early days really can get the feel of traveling round the mountains and not be restricted to one or two slopes.
Most runs in Courchevel are boulevard pistes and glades, absolutely perfect for intermediate skiers to perfect their turns. To the east, Courchevel 1650 is mostly gentle, and everyone, including better skiers, will have a smile on their face as they cruise down scenic and winding runs like Pyramide. Down the valley, around 1550, Le Praz and La Tania, is wonderful roller-coaster country, and you will discover slopes here suitable for all.
Good skiers undoubtedly get the best from this region. The two steep black runs down to Le Praz, Jockeys and the Jean Blanc, mogul fields on the top of the Suisses and the steep terrain on the slopes of La Vizelle are just a few of the challenges that await the more adventurous and experienced skiers.
Traversing the arête just to reach the famous Saulire couloirs is enough to satisfy most people’s appetite for thrills. Skiing them in deep powder is a milestone in most extreme skiers’ lives. Formal off-piste itineraries are limited for such a big area but some of the guided tours are extremely popular with better skiers.
With three snow parks and a dedicated Border-cross area, snowboarders are spoilt for choice in just the Courchevel area. Across the Three Valleys there are several more to explore making this area an absolute mecca for boarders, especially as the number of chairlifts and gondolas make access to all areas easier!
Courchevel 1850 is renowned for both the quality and variety of its après ski life. Ranging from highly sophisticated through to loud and lively, it is mostly based around the atmospheric heart of the village. The Café de la Poste is ideal for a family pizza or the Refuge for a more traditional fondu or raclette. Once the children are in bed you can perhaps take advantage on our staff night off to catch a celebrity in an exclusive club or enjoy a cocktail in one of the many lounge bars – there really is something to appeal to all tastes.
