Family Ski La Rosière
Sunny and snow-sure family ski resort, high above the Tarentaise.
It’s the sunny position, great skiing and incredible views that make family skiing holidays to La Rosière such a joy. With our impressive selection of family chalets in La Rosière, the choice is yours.
Esprit ski La Rosière chalets dominate the area close to the nursery slopes and opposite the main lift system. This prime location makes family ski holidays a joy! The children’s ski classes muster outside the Grandes Alpes chalets, from where their instructors lead them to the appropriate slopes. Parents need only cross the adjacent car park to reach the lifts and be skiing.
The resort dominates the Tarentaise Valley, and one sweep of the eye takes in the ski areas of Val d’Isère/Tignes, Les Arcs and La Plagne. La Rosière is an established Esprit Ski family favourite and is certainly one of the friendliest of Tarentaise resorts. There’s a real feeling that the visitor comes first, and the resort’s family orientation is highlighted by their motto: ‘The Resort Where Children Are Royalty’.
La Rosière has an impressive family ski area straddling the French/Italian border, with high altitude slopes and a good snow record and child-friendly slopes. It is a wonderful choice for intermediate skiers with significant off-piste options. The pistes run to the resort centre – indeed virtually to the doorstep of most of our family chalets – and hold their snow well, even in prolonged warm weather, because of the height of La Rosière.
Just three lifts followed by a seven-kilometre piste take you over the Petit St Bernard pass, across the Italian border and into La Thuile with several steeper, more challenging drops.

Child Care
Five mornings a week, children in Esprit Sprite classes and Spritelet Snow Clubbers are collected from their chalets by our staff (and/or the ski school instructors) and taken to the appropriate slopes for their lessons or to one of the resort’s Snow Clubs for morning fun.
At the end of the morning lesson or Snow Club, children joining Supervised Lunch, afternoon Snow Club or with afternoon Sprite sessions will be collected and returned to either the Ferme d’Elisa, Le Braconnier or Schatzi for lunch.
The Snow Club is based in Chalets Ferme d’Elisa and Le Braconnier with outings for their specific snow fun activities. All children in afternoon Sprites or Spritelets will be taken to and collected from their session by our staff and will join the Snow Club children for the remainder of the afternoon, before being returned to their ‘home’ chalet for high tea.
As we have twoEsprit Nurseries and two Snow Clubs in the resort, we allocate children of similar ages together in one location so that their fun and activities can be more tailored to suit their ages and abilities. Therefore your child may not attend the Nursery or Snow Club in the property in which you are staying. Locations will be allocated on arrival.
We ask that Nursery children are delivered to their designated Nursery by their parents. Nursery lunches are held in Chalets Schatzi and Ferme d’Elisa. Nursery children must be collected by their parents at 5pm and accompanied at high tea, whilst all other children will be supervised by our staff through high tea until 6pm.
Mini Cocoa Club will run in the Ferme d’Elisa Nursery and Les Landelière Snug for guests in those chalets. It runs 6 nights a week from 7.30-9.30pm for children aged 3-5 years. Parents are asked to deliver and collect their children.
Cocoa Club runs in the Snow Club room in Chalets Ferme d’Elise, Le Braconnier and Schatzi from 7.30pm until 10pm on six nights a week and is available to all children aged 6-12 years. Parents are asked to deliver and collect their children.

The Skiing
Ski range from 1,150m – 2,640m
Beginners

The nursery slopes are just beside the main lifts, with easy transition to blue slopes in the same area. Wide gentle pistes allow for mountain exploration at an earlier stage in learning than in many other resorts.
Intermediates

Intermediates can ski the whole region without having to venture onto taxing slopes unless by choice. Skiing into Italy for lunch is well within most skiers’ abilities and includes some wonderful tree-lined runs into La Thuile.
Advanced

There are some good black runs, the steepest being down into La Thuile, but the greatest plus for advanced skiers is the variety of off-piste options. The ski school also organises regular outings to St Foy and Les Arcs, where there are boundless opportunities for the good skier.
Powder Potential

This is a marvellous area for learning off-piste technique. There are many gentle rolling areas between marked runs, so powder beginners get a comparatively easy introduction to the delights of off-piste. Heli-skiing into Italy can be arranged with the local ski school.
Snowboarding

There are sereral snow-zones here with a purpose made snow-park 500m long with rails, tables and slides with plenty of opportunity for big air plus a border cross area. This is complemented by the vast number of off-piste options providing natural half-pipes and gullies, whilst the wide open pistes are ideal for beginners.
APRÈS SKI
Night life is neither extensive nor expensive, and is centred mainly on the bars. Previous guests have been impressed with the standard of the local restaurants, both for leisurely lunches and for an enjoyable evening out on your chalet host’s night off.
