Val d’Isère - a truly elite resort
The amazing ultra high altitude skiing of the legendary Espace Killy almost guarantees the very best conditions from late November to early May, whilst the superb modern lift system whisks you rapidly to a world of varied family skiing, Val d’Isère really does have something to offer for the perfect family skiing holiday.
With most of our childcare situated in our Chalet Hotel Ducs De Savoie, just minutes from the slopes, we make Val d’Isère ideal for families. It offers the best of both worlds, with a convenient location and excellent children’s ski area for the youngsters, whilst parents can take off into the vastness of the Espace Killy area, while the children are safe and happy in our care.
Val d’Isère has surprising charm too, with it’s attractive old village surrounded by sensitive development using lots of stone, slate and wood. Explore the partially pedestrianised centre and discover why the après-ski is just as famous as the skiing!
The Espace Killy links Val d’Isère with Tignes, connecting some of the highest peaks of the Savoie Alps with guaranteed snow such as the Pissailles and Grande Motte Glaciers . A family skiing holidays to Val d’Isère provides never-ending; snowfalls and a reliable six-month season, the longest in Europe!
Extensive investment has kept it ahead of would-be rivals and it is hard to fault the facilities available for every grade.

Esprit Classic Child Care
For parents our Esprit Classic Child Care offers a completely seamless service and means being able to leave your accommodation after breakfast to head for the first lift, only needing to return after the last one shuts. We look after you children completely throughout the ski day if you wish. For the kids it means non-stop fun with english speaking staff and children!
Five mornings a week, children in Esprit Sprite classes and Spritelet Snow Clubbers are collected from the Ducs de Savoie meeting point by our staff (and/or the ski school instructors) and taken to the appropriate slopes for their lessons or to the resort’s Snow Club for morning fun.
At the end of the morning lesson or Snow Club, children joining Supervised Lunch, afternoon Snow Club or with afternoon Sprite or Spritelet sessions will be collected and returned to the Ducs de Savoie for lunch.
The Snow Club is based in the Ducs de Savoie with outings for their specific snow fun activities. All children in afternoon Sprites or Spritelets will be taken to and collected from their session by our staff and will join the Snow Club children for the remainder of the afternoon.
We ask that Nursery children are delivered to Nursery by their parents. Nursery lunches are in the Ducs de Savoie. Nursery children must be collected by their parents at 5pm and accompanied at high tea, whilst all other children will be supervised by our staff through high tea until 6pm.
Mini Cocoa Club will run in the Nursery 6 nights a week from 7.30-9.30pm for children aged 3-5 years. Parents are asked to deliver and collect their children.
Cocoa Club runs in the Snow Club room from 7.30pm until 10pm on six nights a week and is available to all children aged 6-12 years. Parents are asked to deliver and collect their children. Parents can put their children to bed and enjoy a further period of relaxation, making the most of our Baby-Listening/Child-Patrol service, which runs till 11pm.
Ski range from 1,785m – 3,456m
The nursery slopes of the village, with their free draglift and chairlift, are the starting point for most beginners, who will quickly progress to enjoy the greens and blues both on the lower resort slopes and high up on the Bellevarde. Another great green is up on the Solaise, the Madeleine, from where fabulous panoramic views can be enjoyed.
In many skiers’ eyes, Val d’Isère’s Espace Killy area quite simply has no equal for keen intermediates looking for variety and challenges, both on and off-piste. From fantastic tree runs to the open acres of the glaciers and long, long cruising blues and reds from top to bottom, the area has absolutely everything any skier could ever ask. We really cannot recommend it highly enough.
With the whole of the Espace Killy to explore, advanced skiers are spoilt for choice! From the Leisse runs on the Grande Motte Glacier to Col des Ves, probably the furthest black from Val, and the long run down the Vallon de la Sache to Tignes Les Brevières, the challenge for advanced skiers will be to race across the whole area skiing them all. The notorious ‘Face’offers the option of over 1,000m of tricky skiing back to the resort centre, for the perfect end to the perfect day.
Val d’Isère’s snow record is legendary, and the off- piste powder can be awesome! There are so many off-piste itineraries that when the powder is deep it’ll be hard to choose but the Col Pers is certainly a route not to miss and for first timers the Pays Desert will get you hooked. Le Fornet is a mecca for those in the know after a heavy snowfall. Local guides are essential for the best off-piste action.
La Daille is home to the snowboard park, where a half-pipe, quarter-pipes, bumps and rails galore will keep even the most experienced boarder happy in the search for big air! Val d’Isère also boasts several specialist snowboard schools for beginners or those wishing to brush up on technique. Tignes also has its own superb snowboard park.
There is a wonderfully cosmopolitan choice in and around the ‘Vieux Village’ at the heart of Val, and the resort is justly famous for its après ski. Some will enjoy the local brasseries and the piano bars, others the gourmet restaurants and classy shops, and there is plenty of outdoor après ski fun available too - see ‘Activities’ listed below. There is also a vast selection of conveniently local restaurants to choose from on your chalet or hotel team’s night off.
