Top Snow-Sure Resorts
Why wait for the busy peak season crowds? Head out on an early season ski holiday and enjoy some quality family time on the piste. Here are some of our favourite, snow-sure resorts for early season skiing:
- Val D’Isère
– 1,850m
Val d’Isère forms one piece of the legendary Espace Killy, the ultra high altitude skiing mecca. It’s height virtually guarantees ideal conditions from late November to early May. With its superb modern lift system, you are whisked up to a world of varied family skiing that really does offer something for everyone.
- Tignes
– 2,100m
Tignes is the second half of the Espace Killy area, a world renowned ski area. As an added bonus, it is completely snowsure due to the Grande Motte Glacier. With well over half of the 300km of ski areas located above 2,500m, it’s easy to see why Tignes is a firm favourite with skiers.
- Les Arcs
– 2,000m
Les Arcs, is home to a number of superb ski resorts. Our chalets are located in Les Arcs 2000, the best and the highest of the ski resorts – based at the foot of the Aiguille Rouge, in a secluded snow-sure bowl. In addition to skiing, there are loads of fun activities for children and adults alike!
- Obergurgl
– 1,930m
Obergurgl works wonderfully well for family skiing holidays. The children’s kindergarten ski area and ski-school meeting point are now both conveniently located on the slopes. For children who have progressed beyond the beginners’ stage, the blue runs of the Gaisberg provide the ideal area to move on to, and wide open slopes and superb snow conditions make for relaxed, enjoyable skiing. There is also plenty of fun to be had by the grown-ups as well in Obergurgl.
- Alpe D’Huez
– 1,860m
Guaranteed snow plus lots of sunshine is what Alpe d’Huez is all about. From the Pic Blanc on a bright day, you can see one-fifth of France. Alpe d’Huez is the main resort of the fabulous Grandes Rousses ski area, offering plenty of family skiing opportunities over the 250kms of wonderful pistes, and endless acres of off-piste powder. The primary children’s ski area is at the Rond Point des Pistes at the top of the Telecentre lift, which starts only approx. 50m from our Chalet Hotel, and is known affectionately as ‘the yogurt-pot lift’!
